Considering as the top model in Arcam's Alpha series, the Arcam Alpha 10P power amplifier forms a pair of matched 100 watts per channel with the Alpha 10 integrated amplifier. Both share a common design philosophy, as well as certain major components. Built to their highest standards using only the best audiophile quality materials, these are amplifiers designed to last and to give the user all the functionality the user ever need. Like the Alpha 10, the Alpha 10P is also stock modular which allows an optional 3rd channel at 100 watts to be installed. The Arcam Alpha 10P provides a natural sonic upgrade path for many home cinema amplifiers/receivers and can be matched to a wide variety of amplifiers to provide outstanding sound in both single and multi-room installations - delivering remarkably clear sound in any configuration. When using the Arcam Alpha 10 with the Alpha 10P, the sound seemed bigger, even at the same volume. Instruments are more distinct from one another, and there is more air surrounding them. And individual notes seems to stop and start with more momentum. For those who listen to headphones a lot, the Alpha 10P also offers headphone jacks that are run off the amplifiers' circuitry, not powered by op-amps. The sound is clean and powerful and generally unfatiguing The Alpha 10P is a fine power amplifier on its own which is a good choice for anyone looking for a 100W amplifier. It offers good bottom-end control and has a lovely, warm tonal character, but with decent high-end sparkle. It may be a little softish on top but this is not always a bad thing with affordable hi-fi.
