Description :
Part of the Sonus Faber Home Series, the Sonus Faber Concerto Home follows the
current trend of
versatility in the modern home. Sonus faber has came up with a complete range
of speakers to cater for the home audio and video buff. The Concerto Home series
neatly bridges the gap for those upgrading from the Concertino series and aspiring
to the Homage range. The Concerto Home speakers follow the tradition of the
Italian manufacturer’s more illustrious offerings – solid walnut
cabinetry, soft leather wrap and attention to detail, right down to the oversized
crate it came in. The speakers’ weight hints at the serious engineering
that went into construction. By design, the Concerto Homes are two-way units,
each with a 13-litre enclosure and also features a front reflex port. The shape
carries similar design cues to the slightly smaller Concertino brother, with
a horizontal base but the rest of walls constructed at specific angles to disperse
internal reflections and standing waves.
The Concerto Home has a deeper bass than the Concertino Home and it is for small
to medium size rooms. The front reflex port lends more flexibility, and it is
relatively unfussy about placement. The speakers thrives on current, favouring
more powerful amplifiers for better sound. As with all Sonus Faber products,
the midrange is smooth and detailed. The sense of space surrounding the performance
is vibrant and realistic. On more-traditional rock recordings, the subtleties
of the drums and bass line are easily discernible. Voices are detailed, yet
pleasing.
On movie material,
the system sound like a well-matched theater system. The Piccolo Solo matches
the Concertos perfectly in timbre and pitch. The tonality never shifts as the
sounds did. Dialogue is extremely natural. On surround activity, the Concertinos
round out the room perfectly, with high fidelity and pleasing ambience. On DTS
music, the system sound incredibly coherent and well-matched, creating an exciting
audio experience. If you are looking for a system that offers both pleasing
aesthetics and extremely satisfying audio performance, look no further than
these offerings from an Italian company with as much heritage as anyone could
need. By adding the Sonus Faber Gravis subwoofer, the Concerto ensemble is hard
to beat.
