The new Naim Audio Allae loudspeaker continues the company's tradition of physically separation of the drive units within their own enclosures, as well as controlling the critical interface with the floor via a leaf-spring, cast aluminum spiked stand fitted to the speaker's base. This design reduces mechanical interference and thereby enabling predictable acoustic performance not possible in normally configured loudspeaker designs. Installation and assembly of the Allae is simplicity itself, with the bass/mid cabinet sitting neatly on Naim PIPs (precision interface pins) mounted on the top face of the bottom cabinet. The precision interface pins define the air gap between the two cabinets to act as a controlled distributed reflex port which is free of the usual turbulence problems. The bass alignment has been chosen to allow the speakers to be used either against a wall or out in the room, depending on the listener's preferences and room acoustics. The 19mm Scanspeak tweeter is mounted on a sprung plate that acts as a mechanical filter between cabinet and transducer. Mass aluminum dampers are used on all Allae drive units and internal cabinet panels to reduce resonance. A 200mm cast aluminum chassis bass driver with split-mass aluminum phase plug is said to be optimized for heat dissipation and power handling.

The Naim Audio Allae offers truly stunning musical performance that will always enhance the pleasure of the listener's listening experience. The Allae speakers is an acceptably sized true monitoring speaker with fast response and amazing clarity. It produces sound with deep bass extension, handles high volumes gracefully but still remains clean at low listening levels. It is punishing to poorly engineered recordings and reveals a real ambience with the best recordings. The Allae is unique in that sonically they paint a completely “black” background. This quality creates an “air” around performers without the so common veiled feeling associated with other products. Excellent for opera and orchestral music, they are also able to take on jazz and pop music with superb quality. Easy to drive, the Allae takes no prisoners but demands the best in partnering equipment. If you like goosebumps when listening to music here is the answer. Be prepared to be taken to places other speakers fear to tread.
