Description :
The Musical Fidelity X-Pre is a cute little cylindrical shaped pre-amp, with no delusions of grandeur - it does exactly what it says on the tin. Inside it utilises 2 x ECC88 tubes. It produces a very well-rounded sound in its highs, lows, etc. and let's the music shine through. Unless the buyer wants to spend a huge amount of money, there is nothing else like it on the market. Maybe because there's no market for this sort of product, or maybe just because Musical Fidelity is the first. The heart of the X-Pre is a great quality analog preamp, with digital facilities around it. Excellent build quality. Sound is sweet, with image depth and good midband resolution. Bass has a sure touch and some agility. In summary, it is a Class A design tube preamplifier in a compact, neat, beautifully engineered package, for a sensible price.
