Description :
The Talk Electonics Cyclone 2.1 is a fully complimentary Class AB mosfet design biased towards Class A operation. The use of a bigger transformer coupled with higher-quality capacitors and improved circuit design has resulted in a conservatively-rated 100 Watts into 8 Ohms. Although it has a relatively simple industrial design, it's almost flashy when compared to the models from Creek and Naim. The faceplate has been machined into two planes, the higher separated from the lower by a line that suggests a gently rolling wave. The increase in muscularity over the Cyclone 1.1 has to be heard to be believed - loud orchestral passages and choral music is even more powerful and the additional scale and dimension given to a performance can only be described as awesome. The greater power reserve inherent in this amplifier means that more subtle and delicate music - string quartets and unaccompanied female vocals - is projected into the room with hugely impressive control and poise. Music becomes more effortless - 'hi-fi' terminology such as 'a more liquid sound' has been used in the past to describe this amplifier. Optionally there are also Phono RIAA boards that can be fitted to the Cyclone 2.1 amplifier in two different performance levels to meet the user's requirements. The MC1i is the basic level for MM/HOMC/MC cartridges and as it’s name suggests is based around the Edwards Audio MC1 award winning phono stage. The MC2i is a more advanced phono stage based around Edwards Audio MC2/MC3 but without some of the facilities for loading etc. The most striking areas of performance are their ability to convey the timing and emotion of a performance along with an effortless portrayal of dynamics and space. The Talk Electronics Cyclone 2.1 is a truly exceptional amplifier that simply must be heard.
