The Sonus Faber Musica is the perfect expression of the Sonus faber philosophy, embodying simplicity while representing the quest for the finest sound reproduction possible. This pure and simple design, while state-of-the-art in terms of technology, contrasts with the sophisticated technical considerations applied in its conception and construction. In creating this amplifier, Sonus faber did not regard absolute power as a design objective, but instead concentrated on musicality, involvement and emotion. In a sense, the Musica had been designed by music lovers, for music lovers. Naturally, the Musica is as heavily wooded as expected from a marque with Sonus Faber's traditions.

As mentioned, that Sonus faber did not regard absolute power as a design objective for the Musica. It had power limitations for satisfactory use with the Sonus Faber Extrema, and the Guarneri demanded the sort of amplification which knows no limits. Instead, it's more correct to assume that the Musica was voiced to work with everything from Concertino on up. While the Musica was tested on the Concertino, Concerto, Concerto Grand Piano and Minima Amator, there were no signs of internecine warfare. The Sonus Faber Musica is all about subtlety and finesse, with sheer power almost an afterthought. The amplifier has a combination of transparency, and liquidity which can only be described as valve-like, floating above bass which demonstrates all the control of solid-state amplification and none of the aggression. It has the sweetest, most relaxing, most seductive non-valve'd amplifier heard since the original Primare. The Sonus Faber Musica has been honed to display uncanny precision, especially in image positioning, retrieval of fine detail and transient attack. The mid-band is so exquisitely lifelike that vocals possess both the texture and the air which are required to make the listener think the singers are in the room. But that's the character which defines the Musica.
