Description :
The original Aragon D2A was designed in conjunction with famed Theta Digital Corporation. This Aragon digital-to-analog converter was designed as a 18-bit 8X oversampling converter for use with CD and DAT machines. It operated at 32, 44.1 and 48 kHz sample rates, with the correct rate selected automatically. Twin, premium Burr-Brown 18 bit DAC chips were matched with a Texas Instruments filter chip. The analog circuit board was said to be an all-discrete(no IC chips) class "A" dual-mono board. The digital board was encased in a metal shield to prevent it's electromagnetic radiation from contaminating the signal on the analog circuit board. In fact, no digital information was permitted to reach the analog circuit boards. The Aragon D2A2 is based on the original D2A, but it includes refinements like a more-refined reclocking circuit to reduce jitter by a claimed 40%. Jitter is identified as a source of digital--and therefore analog--distortion. The analog circuitry section gains an additional low-impedance output buffer stage. The Aragon D2A2 DAC combines Aragon's traditional analog engineering and build quality with state of the art digital conversion. The D2A2 utilizes the highly advanced components of both UltraAnalog and HDCD to create a digital section that is second to none.

With the Aragon D2A2, sound emerges clearer, firmer, in more detail and with greater dynamics. Soundstaging improve vastly in width and depth, so as does imaging and location. There is an increase in ambient information which is most noticeable in recordings of live performances. Classical works sound livelier and with better dimension. Bass is a strong point of multi-bit DACs, but the D2A2 takes this strength to a new level. With the musical line fully preserved, the Argon D2A2 produces an even deeper and truer sound compared to many other DAC can achieve. The Aragon D2A2 excels in keeping the entire music intact and coherent. With this, a large-scale and complex orchestral works comes through neither convoluted nor congested. The Aragon D2A2 exhibits a degree of attack that is just right.
